A Dual Path to Wellness with Saw Palmetto

Venture into the essence of saw palmetto, an age-old botanical hailing from the southeastern United States. Vi-spo™, meticulously crafted from the berries of serena repens, offers a dual promise: a significant boost in hair health and unparalleled support for prostate wellness.

  • Mechanism of Action

Vi-spo™ captures the essence of saw palmetto berries, sourced directly from Florida's fertile grounds. With a distinct supercritical CO2 extraction method, it ensures a rich blend of fatty acids and beta-sitosterol. This innovation elevates Vi-spo™, making it stand apart from conventional counterparts.

  • Clinically Proven Efficacy

In comprehensive trials, Vi-spo™ showcased its prowess in addressing two pivotal concerns: hair revitalization and prostate health. Participants, both men and women, administered with a specified dose, reported significant hair rejuvenation, including reduced hair loss and enhanced hair density. Simultaneously, remarkable improvements were observed in metrics related to prostate wellness. This dual-effect, validated clinically, establishes Vi-spo™ as a versatile solution, transcending conventional offerings in both arenas.

  • Meticulous Extraction

Vidya Herbs' recent studies highlight the unique capabilities of Vi-spo™. It champions a harmonious balance, reducing inflammatory markers and emphasizing its potential in maintaining prostate health.

  • Background Information

Vi-spo™ is an extract of Serena repens fruit produced by Vidya Herbs, Inc. Serena repens is also referred to as Saw palmetto. Native to the southeastern United States, the fruit has a long history of use for supporting prostate health.

Dried Serena repens (Saw palmetto) berries imported directly from Florida undergo a process known as supercritical CO2 extraction where high pressure is used with an added purification step in order to not only draw out a high fatty acid content, but also ensure a beta-sitosterol content that is up to 10 times higher than conventional supercritical saw palmetto extractions on the market. The resulting oil Vi-spo™ can also be spray dried to provide the material as a powder. The extraction process occurs at Vidya's state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Bangalore, India.

Early research by Vidya Herbs examined the mechanisms by which Vi-spo™ works. The trial revealed Vi-spo™ supports a balanced inflammatory response as evidenced by a reduction in both COX-2 and NF-kB in prostate tissue.

In a double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled clinical trial, 91 men were administered either 200 mg of Vi-Spo™ oil, 200 mg of a conventional supercritical extract or a placebo twice daily after a meal for 12 weeks. Results indicated that the Vi-spo™ group saw a significant decrease in the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) (p < 0.05), residual urine volume (p < 0.05), and a marker of prostate health (p < 0.05) (where a reduction indicates a better score). The Vi-spo™ group also saw a significant increase in maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax). The conventional extract failed to achieve a statistically significant difference in comparison to the placebo group on these measures.
